Apleona wins order for fit-out of Luxembourg's National Library

Apleona R&M Ausbau has been commissioned with the interior fittings of Luxembourg’s National Library. Construction of the library is being carried out in accordance with plans from Bolles+Wilson Architects and ww+ Architects on a 1.6 hectare site in Luxembourg’s government and banking district. The client is the Ministry for Sustainable Development and Infrastructure. The library is expected to open at the end of 2018 following four years of construction.

As part of the order, Apleona R&M Ausbau is currently carrying out drywall works in the existing complex of buildings that consist of three components with a total gross floor space of 38,200 square meters. 9,000 square meters of gypsum board walls, 1,200 square meters of gypsum board ceilings as well as 2,800 square meters of metal lamella ceilings are being installed in the framework construction. The architectural highlight is the main reading room of the library; there, the fit-out specialists are integrating a total of approximately 1,500 square meters of temperature-regulating ceilings in the existing wooden frame structure.

Once the work is completed, the library will have more exhibition space, conference and reading rooms, a five-storey archive as well as space for visitors with children and a cafeteria.
